Double Phooey...
130 Watchers152 Deviations

Pageviews
  1. How long have you been on DeviantArt? Since November 2008, so going on seven years!

  2. What does your username mean? Incorporates part of my name, a reference to a famous movie, and a very imporant year (to me, at least) into one!

  3. Describe yourself in three words. Daydreamer. Trusting. Ravenclaw.

  4. Are you left or right handed? Right

  5. What was your first deviation? A very sad Hinata Hyuga with the lyrics to "Nobody's Home" by Avril Lavigne, drawn with Crayola markers, mostly in Algebra II. :P

  6. What is your favourite type of art to create? Anything that comes out the way I picture it in my head, haha. But actually, I guess traditional sketches. I'm never as interested in the coloring part of drawing.

  7. If you could instantly master a different art style, what would it be? Like shiniez. He so easily does accurate lighting, and anatomy, and expressions, and, just, like, everything! Or at least he makes it seem easy, which is just as hard.

  8. What was your first favourite? Something by E-Vay, almost certainly either Twlight or Naruto :)

  9. What type of art do you tend to favourite the most? Fanart. All the freaking fanart. Especially Naruto and A:tLA (and especially-especially Korrasami <3)

  10. Who is your all-time favourite deviant artist? Oooooh, good question... Julvett and Nami64 and Fey-Raven and Viria13 and Shiniez and Neodusk and... well, basically, I like a lot.

  11. If you could meet anyone on DeviantArt in person, who would it be? Probably Neodusk. If his comics are any indicator, he'd be really fun to hand out with. :D

  12. How has a fellow deviant impacted your life? Although it was really the series Naruto that inspired 14 year-old me to take drawing more seriously, it was discovering E-Vay's art that made me realize how cool it is to make up your own style. Plus I went gaga over her Naruto Next Generation characters, which spurred me to make my own, and that was a ton of creative juices I got flowing. Oh, and after finding her I actually made a deviantArt account. So that's kind of important too.

  13. What are your preferred tools to create art? Pencil and paper for initial drawing, and then I usually finish them up with a Wacom tablet. Or Prismacolor markers/colored pencils if I'm in the mood.

  14. What is the most inspirational place for you to create art? Anywhere quiet and comfy.

  15. What is your favourite DeviantArt memory? When a drawing I did of NaruHina in the rain got a butt-ton of faves in a really short amount of time (don't remember specific numbers anymore). I was just so taken aback because usually my drawings got(/get) just a few favorites in the first hour or so, assuming they're of a popular subject or featured in a group, and suddenly I was like "Woah... people think I'm good!"

So anyone who has been watching me for any amount of time, or even anyone who's just happened to stumble upon my gallery for about two minutes, can see that I'm a big ol' Narutard. I discovered it the summer before going into high school and watched the entirety of the pre-Shippuden series within months-- I don't remember the exact time it took, but I know I've never gone through a series that fast since.

But not only did the story and characters interest me, that series was the reason I started to take drawing more seriously. I'd loved to draw as long as I can remember, but it was never something I put effort into; I would draw something out of my brain, think it looked pretty good, and move on. Then I tried to draw something anime-style from memory and realized I couldn't do it. How did their hair look so spiky but so soft? How did their giant eyes fit on their face? What were their ears like--- were they any different from non-anime ears? And so I started looking at references. I started drawing a ton of fanart and eventually had looked at so many pictures of a young Team 7 that I still have their outfits memorized. I found deviantArt and suffice to say this website has had a greater influence on me than any other (so much inspiration... so many pretty pictures, and people who help me with my own art...). After a few years I wanted to branch out of anime-style drawing and develop my own, which is still kind of in the process of forming but is rather Disney-esque with some Naruto-style elements thrown in here and there.

All the while I continued to keep up with Naruto. When I got caught up with the anime I learned what sites hosted the manga and caught up to that. I think since my sophomore year of high school - so a solid half decade - I've been reading Naruto weekly, within a few days of each chapter coming out. Some times were better than others, some times I couldn't believe I waited a week just for that, some times I wanted to slap the crap out of Kishimoto and/or one of the characters because oh my God why the heck did that just happen??? But even when I hated how dragged out a scene was, I stuck by it. And as it enters into its final weeks, I'm so glad I did.

Naruto ends in less than two weeks, and I'm actually a lot more stressed about this than I should be. I can only hope that the ending does this epic of a series justice, that everything gets wrapped up as it should, and that all the major conflicts and questions are answered. I know there's still a movie to come, and (rumor has it) a potential spin-off series from that movie, but what's canon and what's not in the movie-verse is a hotly debated topic and it'd be nice to have answers without the arguments. I'm also really curious what, if any, couples end up canon; there's suspicion about NaruHina after the release of the soundtrack cover, and I'd be thrilled with that, but I'd even be satisfied (though admittedly not thrilled) if Kishimoto goes for NaruSaku, provided he writes it right; it'd be better than leaving us hanging. And then is Neji coming back somehow? (My guess is no, but I'd love it if I'm wrong.) Will Sasuke come back/stay in Konoha, and this time stay a good guy? Will we ever see under Kakashi's mask? Does Naruto become Hokage??? For that matter, does Kakashi become Hokage? How is all of this going to get resolved in 40-ish pages???

All right, back to my original point. Naruto, I'll miss you. You and your pervy jutsu, your bravery, your strength never to give up, your work ethic, your loyalty to your friends, your ability to change people, your ability to care for people who treated you so terribly for your entire life. You've inspired me in ways no other series has, and for that I thank you.

Kiriban soon!

2 min read
So I noticed that my pageviews are past the 9900 mark, and that's pretty exciting, so I want to do a kiriban prize for whoever catches my 10,000th pageview! I've never done one of these before, but here's how this is gonna work:

-If you're the lucky 10,000th viewer, take a screenshot of the page and send it to me either by commenting on my page with it attached or post it on your page and send me the link.
-Once I see it and verify it, you're in! I'll do one request for you, up to three characters with a simple background, digital or traditional (your choice). A few rules about this request:
*The characters can be anyone you want: humans, animals, furries, OCs, fantasy beings, etc.
*Things I WON'T Draw: X-rated anything (if genitalia is involved, it's a no), extreme gore, bondage, underage kids in questionable activities. It's at my discretion whether what you request is all right, so please make it easy by requesting something clearly appropriate. :)
*Uh... that's all I've got for now, may add one or two more if I think of anything.

And if nobody catches exactly the 10k, I'll take the next closest one, so feel free to send in a 10,001 or 10,003 screenshot if you hit it, just in case.

On the other hand, if more than one person catches the 10k exactly, I'll do requests for whoever does catch it, but I may have to tone it down (like, only up to two characters and only gradient backgrounds, for example).

And that's that! Thank you guys so much for your support, and happy kiriban-hunting! :D

Just an Update

2 min read

Just thought I would give a little update on things, since I've been so inactive on here lately. Also, the previous journal entry was over a year old and I felt obligated to change that. :P

Anyway, I'm going to be uploading a new drawing (an Avatar-related comic, to be precise!) within a day or two, provided my tablet holds out. I've had the same Wacom tablet for about five years and it's finally wearing out. I thought it was completely busted until a day ago, at which point it spontaneously started working again. :boogie: Not sure why, but no complaints! And now that NaNoWrimo and my Quarter from Hell are over (never again will I take bio, calc, and chem simultaneously!!!) I'll hopefully have more time to draw.

I've also entered a new fandom or few recently, so there maaaay be some Ouran or Attack on Titan fanart coming out of me in the near future. :iconmikasaplz: :iconhikarukaoruplz: But now it's getting late, so I bid you all good night and happy holidays! :santa:

So... been almost a month since I posted anything, huh? That's kind of sad, actually. :( But you know how I said everything was super-hunky-dory with college? Well, it's not that things aren't hunky-dory anymore, it's just that there's sooooooooo much I've been doing that, honestly, drawing has moved to the bottom of the list.

(You notice how half of my journal entries are me saying how busy I've been? ^^; )

Anyway, my classes have, logically, stepped up. Finals are coming up and with them there are final essays and more reading and all that lovely stuff. In addition to that there's pressure (from my parents mostly) to find a job, club meetings, staying in touch with old friends, all that jazz. However, there is one thing that is taking up the majority of my November time:

It's National Novel Writing Month! :w00t: And, after hearing about it for a few years, I decided to actually paticipate this year. Which means 50,000 words in the month of November. For those of you who don't like math, that comes out to 1,667 words per day. For thirty days. It's been exhausting and fun and a major incovenience at times, but I am totally caught up right now (100-odd words ahead, as a matter of fact) and I'm really proud of myself. :D Though in short... it's really been NaNoWriMo that's the main cause of my lack of drawing. But in just three days, and 5,000 more words, it will be over. And then I'll probably finish a Harry Potter pic I started in October. And that should be fun.

At any rate, I'm really nervous about all the school stuff coming up, so wish me luck! I can NOT wait for winter break. :faint:
